As summer hums along, Indians are looking at new destinations to beat the heat. As per a new survey, Indians now prefer domestic spots more than international destinations. The survey, which was conducted by Yatra, which is an online travel portal, as many as 68% of Indians were planning to travel this summer, of which, more than half were looking to visit a destination within the country itself.
“Close to 64% of the respondents prefer domestic destinations,” the survey revealed.
Also, Indians are looking at budget travel as close to 45 per cent of respondents want to spend only ₹10,000 – 25,000 on their holidays. One of the big reasons why people want to take a budget holiday is the fact that they can go on multiple trips in a year.

“Indian travellers are increasingly realizing that there is tremendous beauty in the unexplored parts of India. This is certainly an exciting new trend that seems to be picking up,” Sharat Dhall, COO (B2C), Yatra.com, said.
Also, as per other findings, people now look at reviews and different ratings before they make their travel bookings. “While finalizing the accommodation option, 74% of the respondents relied on online reviews,” the survey added.
Also, the survey said that Indians want to be prepared and keep everything under their control when planning any travel.
“Around 43% of people book more than 15 days in advance while 40% book a minimum of three months in advance. 70% of respondents book flights before booking their hotels to get the best deals on their travel,” it said.
