When do you know that it is time to say goodbye?
There have to be compromises made in order to sustain any relationship, but well, few relationships just do not have the legs to be successful and sooner rather than later, they become very toxic, without people even realizing it.
There is this thing with being in a toxic relationship – it not only affects your personal life, but it also has huge bearing on how you react and the turn the subsequent life takes.
It is important to identify signs which are essential in understanding when a relationship becomes toxic and here in this article, we identify a few points.
- If you have to make an effort, however small, to draw respect and recognition from your partner, it is one sure sign that your relationship is not working. You should not always be ready with your defensive shield but should be responsive enough to understand the issues plaguing your relationship. One has to be careful and make efforts to keep the relationship going.
- One sure sign which screams out to you about the relationship turning toxic is when your growth makes your partner insecure and then subsequently creates impediments for your future prospects. This is one sign that things will no longer work and that, you have to get up and move on.
- The ability to shed all pretence and speak your mind is a luxury that only a few can afford and if you cannot be yourself without any façade or fluff, are you even being honest with your partner? If you believe that your partner might judge you and if you feel that your thoughts will not find any audience, well, walk away.
- One always likes luxury, one likes being taken care of, but hey, at the end of the day, one must also be independent enough to make their own calls. And if, at the end of the day, this care becomes control, so much so, that you have to seek permission for every movement of your body, the relationship can safely be branded as toxic.
If you feel you are in a toxic relationship, talk to your partner about it. We do not encourage walking away without trying to solve your problems. If you have any stories to share, let us know by commenting below.
