In a long distance relationship with each other and the world: Story of Vaishali and Sidhhartha

Vaishali and Sidhhartha met each other on a dating app and rather unexpectedly they ended up being together. Their story seems to be straight out of a Bollywood movie – two youngsters in a long-distance relationship, madly in love with each other, travelling together and creating everlasting memories.

In a candid interview with youngnfab, they open up about their relationship, their future plan, and the love they get on social media.

Here are the excerpts:

Please tell us about yourselves

I’m a 22 year old girl living in the Delhi NCR. A bachelor’s degree holder from Delhi University, I’m currently doing my post graduation and I have a niche for art, football, literature, and poetry. And during my free time, I like penning down my thoughts and write for myself. Oh, and also, I’m a great cook!

While Siddhartha is an army brat,  his family roots back in Lucknow. He is currently a serving officer in the Indian army, an avid sports freak, and an athlete. He’s both a basketball as well as a volleyball player and has won key tournaments in his profession.

One thing that we both commonly share is our love for seeking new geography, places and meet new people. But most of all — our common love for football an uncommon love for our teams. Yes! we are rivals when it comes to supporting our favourite clubs. But we both quite manage with that. You see, we have to, nevertheless.

How did you come up with the idea of starting an Instagram page together?

It was in August 2017, when we first ventured into starting our Instagram page — an idea which was totally Siddharth’s. We were barely two months into dating each other and opening up a joint account, was too much PDA for me. But he convinced me good and convinced me fine! And look, here we are!

As the username suggests, @elclasicodouble — inspired from the Spanish connotation to the biggest, the most enthralling rivalry in the football world. FC Barcelona vs Real Madrid. It translates to “The Classic Two” in English. And a page dedicated to our fandom was the most unique, the coolest idea I’ve ever had.

We’ve been arch rivals and the history speaks of it. So what could possibly make me fall for this man? We had to tell the world. We had to let people know.

We are no cliché Instagram influencers or bloggers, we are two simple people, aiming to spread love, spread positivity and inspire more military couples who battle the war of the brutal long distance relationship!

How did you two meet?

Vaishali: We met on a dating app and within two days of us talking, he was where most boys struggle to escape from — the Friendzone. Sounds funny? Well, it sure does. I was never really using the app for what most people usually do. I was, in fact, using it for socializing but who knew!

“When I first saw her profile, I was dumbstruck. A picture of hers, reading poetry in front of a microphone and I knew I wanted her for a lifetime. I casually invited her over to meet me,” Sidhhartha recalls.

“Those two days when she was here was just magical. Her cute antics, her voice, the way she looked at me and her eyes; everything about her made me want her more. And I had fallen in love with her. I told myself I was gonna marry her and no one else,” he adds, talking about their first meeting.

“Two days and we fell in love with each other. He had escaped the dreadful friendzone. And I didn’t complain,” says Vaishali.

How do you manage a long distance relationship?

Having a boyfriend in the military and making things work is a dreadful task, no kidding. Each day is a struggle in your relationship and you’ve nowhere else to go. With Siddhartha, it has been a roller coaster ride. We’ve had our good and bad days, worst even more.

The value of a physical presence and a basic human touch becomes more exquisite than ever. We sure have our own share of fights and it’s not always a honeymoon walk. Long distance relationships in the military are not easy. It’s mentally, psychologically and emotionally exhausting. There would be times when you’ll feel like giving up, but always remember,

“When you love someone, nothing really can come between the two of you. No distance, no negative people, no deplorable energies and vibes, no fear, and no trammel. It’s just the two of you and a fixity of purpose to stay together, fight for each other, come what may, until the goddamn stars go out.”

How has travel helped you two strengthen your relationship?

Vaishali and I have a lot of dissimilarities. Blunder ones. But one thing which we commonly share is our passion to travel. I grew up as an Army BRAT and all my life, we’ve led a nomadic life. I’ve seen places, met new people, made different friends. Growing up, I wanted to travel even more. And when my mother gifted me my first bike, I craved for a woman I loved, to seek new places with me on my bike. And guess who I found : a complete travel enthusiast. We have, till now, undertaken 5 trips and two of them were on our bike “Catty”. My beautiful Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500.

What are the plans that you look forward to?

It would definitely be Spain for us. Our dream is to visit the beautiful cities of Barcelona and Madrid and watch an El Clásico together at Camp Nou. It would be no less than a heaven for us. We plan to detour Ladakh and Nepal on our bikes. I wish we soon find a leave to getaway with this.

What kind of response do you receive from people on social media?

People admire us. Our relationship. We receive messages everyday from people who bless us with all the beautiful wishes and compliments. Girls who are dating men from the military, and men in long-distance relationships approach us for tips, advices, help and how they feel related to us. We love each one of their messages and appreciate everyone. We feel nothing but blessed.

Towards the end of the interview, Vaishali concludes by giving a practical advice to everyone, “We don’t want to create false imagery of a long distance relationship. I want to tell people it’s not as honeymoon walk as it seems on our page. It’s beyond those beautiful pictures and the PDA. We have our own share of turmoil and problems and it is as real as any relationship.”
