I want to stay humble, kind, and helpful for everyone in Blogging Industry: Mehak Dhawan

Going with the name FoodieSince96, Mehak Dhawan – a 22 year old food blogger from Delhi – started her own Instagram page in 2016 to share her passion for food and photography with the world.

For Mehak, it took a long time to reach the first 10,000 followers on the photo-sharing platform. However, her constant effort and interesting content modifications gave a boost to her profile and more than 90,000 followers were added within 10 months.

In another seven months, this number was doubled yet again and her following reached 200 k. Mehak dedicates this phenomenal rise to the love and support she has received from everyone throughout her journey as a food blogger so far.

“I was a part of Spoon Du which was an online food publication run by the students of Delhi University. I started clicking pictures which were featured in various publications, blogs and I was appreciated a lot for my work,” Mehak states while talking about what inspired her to become a food blogger.

Currently pursuing a course in fashion and media, and also working with different NGOs, Mehak manages to put up at least 4 to 5 posts on her Instagram profile daily.

She believes that her consistency has been the most defining factor in her success as a food blogger. “With food blogging reaching its zenith, a lot of new people are joining the industry each day. Many of the content creators are doing amazing work but I think the biggest challenge is consistency,” she says.

Moving forward, she wants to continue experimenting with her content and is coming up with new ideas. In her own words, “there’s a lot more in store and you must watch out for it.”

While Mehak wants to achieve great heights for herself, she also thinks that it is equally important for her to help others who are entering the industry and makes every effort to personally assist anyone who approaches her for support.

But her biggest achievement so far? Being invited to speak about blogging by her alma-mater – Jesus and Mary College in Delhi University.

“Indeed, it was the best experience; the place where I arranged everything when we had speakers in college and a year later I was invited to the same place to share my journey. I was overwhelmed,” she says with a sense of pride.
