Lockdown has left many people with no choice of moving out and stay away from toxic people in the family. Well, it might surprise you that there are many times when people in a family start hating each other and create a toxic environment. This is not a situation every family faces but many do! You might be one of them. Constant criticism and abuse by family members may create a bad place for them in your heart.
Although 2020 has brought many of your loved ones close to you, it’s been an absolute nightmare for someone living in a toxic household or environment whose only sanctuary is the outside world, caged inside the four walls of their home with no way out.
A toxic household refers to a household where you feel unsafe physically, mentally, and emotionally. You can even go to depression if it continues. A dysfunctional family creates an environment where toxicity prevails all over. And all you want to do is stay away from your home and people. It is a common thing that occurs almost in every family at some point in time and since its quarantine, it has become way more common especially among teenagers. Don’t worry everything is soon going to be fine. Just be positive and follow these tips till then.
Engage yourself in something productive. This will take your mind into another productive direction and you won’t mind your parents or siblings shouting over you for long. Join an internship or develop skills such as painting and drawing.
Keep your interactions to a minimum. The less you interact, the more good you will feel. It’s not an easy thing to do specially when you live with your family but it will keep your anxiety and stress on the check. Keep a journal where you jot down every feeling of yours and meditate every morning and stay positive.
