Stretching is an important part of exercise. Keeping your muscles flexible will help increase your mobility and is an essential component of fitness. But stretching, for some people, is a neglected part during their workout time. If you are one of those who believe in stretching before workout, it becomes way more necessary for you to know that you are not committing any mistake while doing it to avoid injuries and other discomforts. So here are few mistakes you can do while stretching before workout:

You may stretch injured muscles at times without even knowing how harmful it can be. Generally, muscle strain occurs due to overstretching of muscles so stretching it further can make the injury last long. You should never go for stretching when you are injured. Stretching your injured muscles can make it even more painful and cause high discomfort.

Stretching only some parts of body is also wrong. So while your stretches should be done to activate the parts of your body that you will be using most during your workout, there should be a balance between emphasizing the most needed parts of your body and completely neglecting the rest of your body. You should also not stretch until it hurts. It can bring a lot more risks for you. Flexibility takes years to develop and so, you should try to focus on the small and incremental changes, because those little changes in your body as well are worth celebrating.

Another mistake that people make while stretching is not warming up before stretching. Warm-up exercising before stretching can help improve the flexibility of muscles and increase the blood flow in body. So whenever you think of working out, start with warm up then stretching and then your regular exercise routine.
