If you are trying to stick to a nightly beauty routine that doesn’t require you to
abandon your entire evening or spend your whole paycheck, you’re not alone. At
the end of the day, the last thing we want to do is spend 20 minutes prepping our
skin for bedtime. Our bed just seems to be calling our name, and why keep our
eyes open any longer than we have to? However, one of the most important
nightly beauty practices is washing our makeup – and the day – off our face.
Although there is no substitute for getting enough sleep, we can adopt pre-bed
beauty rituals that maximize skin (and hair) health while we slumber. Not only are
the following practices beauty boosters, but they’ll also help you unwind before
hitting the sheets.
DRINK A GLASS OF WATER
Perhaps nothing can benefit your skin more than water. Water helps keep your
skin moisturized and looking healthy. Drinking a glass of water before bed helps
you stay hydrated through the night, leaving you more prepared to face whatever
the morning holds.

GET A RECOMMENDED AMOUNT OF SLEEP
While you’re sleeping, your skin repairs the damage it encountered during the
day. We get it-you’re busy, and this may not always be possible. But this is one
of the easiest (and cheapest) ways to achieve great skin.
GIVE YOURSELF A MINI FACIAL

Although you can massage your skin at any stage of your pre-bed beauty routine,
while you moisturize may be the best time to get into it. Using a product
that allows your fingers to easily glide along your skin will minimize the chances
that you’ll accidentally tug or stretch your skin.
EXFOLIATE REGULARLY

Exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells, clear pores, prevent breakouts, and
smoothes your skin’s texture.
USE WARM WATER
Using warm water on your face helps to open your pores, clearing them from dirt,
oil, and bacteria that can lead to acne. It also relaxes you — a great feeling before
bed.
