All of us cook and store food whenever possible thinking that it should not waste. Sometimes we are left with so much of food that there is no option other than storing it or else it will go bad. Even when we cook for family, almost everyone cooks more so that everybody could eat but there as well, we are left with food. However, every dish has a certain requirement to be stored so that they don’t go waste. One of the food items mostly left is rice. It is very important to store it in a proper way so that you don’t get into any trouble the next day.
Rice contains bacteria which is responsible for food poisoning among people. Uncooked rice contains this bacterium which can even survive when the rice is cooked and the longer rice is left out at room temperature; the greater the chances the bacteria will multiply and potentially produce toxins. If you eat this rice, you might end up vomiting or catching diarrhea. Luckily, there are tips you should follow if you regularly consume rice so that you don’t get into any such problem. Firstly, you should know that problem does not lie in the leftover rice but it is the process of reheating where most problems lie.
Decide the amount of rice you can have and eat it directly after it is cooked. If you’re making it to eat at a later time, put it away as soon as it has cooled down. This should be no longer than an hour. If you eat rice the next day, make sure you steam it all the way through and don’t heat it for more than ones. In simple words, don’t keep cooked rice on the counter for more than one hour.
