Preventive maintenance for household appliances like air conditioners will go an extended way. Taking care of those expensive durables not only protects them from unexpected breakdowns, but also enhances comfort and helps you save energy! With winter here, air conditioners are getting to be one among the smallest amount used appliances in homes. Follow these care and maintenance tips to assist your AC get through the off-season.
Turn off the switch
Simply turning off the AC using the remote won’t do; locate the facility outlet, which should be attached to the wall, and switch it off. This may keep your AC from turning on after an influence outage, if any.
Check your air conditioning handbook and see if its air filters are often removed and cleaned. Follow the steps to get rid of the filter. Vacuum the filter to get rid of dust and debris, or use a brush for an equivalent. Use mild soap and water to softly scrub the filter clean. Rinse well and permit to dry before replacing.

If it snows or gets windy during winter where you stay, cover the surface unit to guard it from the weather. Doing so also will keep your air conditioning from clogging whenever you turn it on next. To protect the surface unit, simply place a bit of plywood on top, securing it in situ with some bricks or heavy rocks. You’ll also get a special enclosure built for the unit. Alternatively, cover the unit employing a breathable material. Avoid plastic because it can trap moisture and encourage mold growth or cause the unit to rust.
If there’s chance of snow or water pooling at the bottom of the surface unit, make certain to put it on a raised slab. Confirm there are not any plants growing round the outside unit either!
